SC asks Delhi Govt to provide AQI data from the date of introducing Odd-Even scheme

Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a notice to Delhi government on a PIL filed by an advocate Sanjiv Kumar challenging its odd-even scheme terming it an illegal classification of vehicles. The top court has asked Delhi government to provide Air Quality Index (AQI) data from the date of introducing odd-even scheme till November 14. Also, the apex court has asked Delhi government and CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) to provide Air Quality Index (AQI) data from October 1 to December 31 of the last year. The Court posted has fixed November 15 as next date of hearing. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, addressed the media persons, that "if required we can extend Odd-Even scheme." The odd-even scheme was implemented in the national capital from November 4. As per the scheme, the vehicles with registration numbers ending in odd-digits (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) will be allowed on the roads on odd dates and those with even digits (0,2,4,6,8) on even dates.
