School heads authorised to modify records regarding change/correction in name of students along with parents Chandigarh: "The Education Department, Punjab, in a student friendly initiative has authorized the school Principals/Heads to make modifications in the records pertaining to change/correction in name of the students/father/mother with regard to 1st standard till 9th standard at their own level after obtaining concerned record/documents." Disclosing this here today, the Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary also said that this path breaking measure to delegate powers at the lower level has been formulated as per the directions of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh to undertake student as well as teacher friendly decisions. The minister further disclosed that there would now be no need to get the admission cancellation register of the school concerning corrections countersigned by the D.E.O.s or the Manager, Regional Office, Punjab School Education Board. On the occasion, the Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab cum Chairman of the Punjab School Education Board Mr. Krishan Kumar said that the instructions regarding the above measure have been issued to all the D.E.O.s, District Managers of Regional Offices (Punjab School Education Board) and the general public. —PTC News
