Senior Cong leader Rajinder Deepa joins SAD along with supporters
Senior Congress leader and former PPCC general secretary Rajinder Deepa today joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) along with a huge number of his supporters in the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal here.
Welcoming Rajinder Deepa into the Akali fold, Mr Sukhbir Badal said he had a long association with the Congress leader which went back to when he was a student in Chandigarh. He said Deepa was a hard working leader who had a massive connect at the grass root level and he was confident that he would be an asset to the SAD.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Deepa said he had always worked with vigour for the Congress party but had discovered over the years that the party did not respect people who were really associated with the people. “Besides working at the grass root level, I also functioned as Spokesman for the Congress party. But I am sorry to state that the worker is not important in the Congress. This is why I am leaving the party and starting a new innings in politics”, he added.
Deepa also recounted his association with the SAD president and the respect and love he had always got from him. He said he would work for the SAD wherever he was given duty.
Others who joined with Deepa today at the party headquarters included Rajinder Kaur Meemsa, former Secretary of the Congress party. She also assured full support to the SAD president on the occasion.
