Services of 8,736 teachers to be regulaised in Punjab, says CM Bhagwant Mann

Sri Anandpur Sahib, September 5: In a bonanza for Punjab teachers on Teachers' Day, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced to regulaise the services of 8,736 contractual teachers. He made this announcement in Sri Anandpur Sahib. He said the services of 5,442 education providers, 1,130 inclusive education volunteers, 1,639 teachers who came under the transparent policy and 525 teachers under the board would be confirmed. Mann said that it has been decided in the cabinet meeting. Mann said that soon the number of employees of the board and corporation will also come. He also honoured teachers on the occasion. "I am the son of late Master Mohinder Singh. From Class VI to VIII, I studied in the same school where my father was the headmaster. The life of a teacher is very difficult. Besides academic duty, they are given other responsibilities too, such as voting duty. "Wherever I meet them, I still touch their feet. A teacher also feel proud when his/her students earn a name for himself/herself. The contribution of parents too play a major role." He also batted for the digitisation of education. Earlier in the day, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant announced the implementation of the the University Grants Commission (UGC) pay scales in colleges and universities from October.
