Shahkot bypoll: Laddi Sherowalia steers Congress into massive win Congress pops up a shocker at Shahkot by winning the elections with a major difference! Standing the test of time, Punjab Congress won a decisive mandate in the Shahkot bypoll with its candidate Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia romping home with a lead of 38,801 votes on Thursday afternoon. Over 76 percent of 1.72 lakh voters had exercised their franchise for the Shahkot bypoll on May 28 where the Congress, the SAD and the AAP were locked in a triangular battle. The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Ajit Singh Kohar in February this year. Over 70 percent polling was reported on Monday in the bypoll to the Shahkot Assembly seat in Punjab, a poll official said. -PTC News
