Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said it was shameful that AAP Convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had run away from answering grave charges of corruption made against him by a former cabinet colleague and had instead unleashed his cronies to discredit Kapil Mishra, who till one day earlier was a trusted friend. In a statement here, former minister and senior SAD leader Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said it was also shocking that Kejriwal had different yardsticks for himself and others. “When it comes to transgressions committed by his party leaders he takes immediate action. However in his own case when his right hand man and cabinet minister says he witnessed Kejriwal accepting a bribe of Rs two crore from a tainted colleague he asks his chamchas to start chanting the ‘unbelievable’ chant”. The SAD leader said people very well understood what was believable and what wasn’t. “Incidents of corruption in AAP as well as the role of the tanker and land mafia were in public knowledge. That’s why the party suffered a severe drubbing in elections to the muncipal corporation of Delhi (MCD). People understood that corruption was rampant in the AAP regime and punished the party for the same”. Stating that Arvind Kejriwal’s entire politics was based on shoot and scoot, Mr Dhillon said Kejriwal had made a habit of defaminig others. “That’s why he is facing a number of defamation cases in which he is in the dock”. He said however now Kejriwal had met his nemesis. This time the allegation of corruption is being made against his person by a fellow cabinet minister who is a founder member of India Against Corruption and has an absolutely clean record. Now Kejriwal cannot try to defame Kapil Mishra and get away with it. Now he will have to resign as chief minsiter and face persecution for his misdeeds. Speaking about the corruption unleashed by AAP in Punjab politics, the Akali leader said AAP Punjab founder member and NRI Pavittar Singh had publicly alleged that he was asked to give Rs 50 lakh as bribe to procure a party ticket for his wife. “A journalist claimed he was given the party ticket but asked to pay a bribe following which he approached Kejriwal who asked him to pay up as told. Others also openly accused the AAP Punjab team of collecting crores during ticket distribution besides indulging in moral turpitude,” he said. Dhillon said Kejriwal brushed all this under the carpet saying the allegations were not substantiated. He however threw out AAP Punjab party convener Suchha Singh Chottepur on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. “Why is there no action when the party president is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 2 crore by a cabinet collegue. This is proof of the double standards and double speak of Kejriwal who has always misled the befooled the people for his petty political motives”, Mr Dhillon added. — PTC News-
