Shiromani Akali Dal all set for Maghi Mela conference today
Ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha eletions , the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is all set to hold political conferences on the occasion of Maghi Mela in Muktsar on Monday.

Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal , SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP leaders are likely to speak from the stage on the occasion. The SAD conference is expected to see large crowds as it has put its tents on 3.5 acres of land.

The Maghi Mela has religious significance for the Sikhs and is one of the major fairs as it. The Maghi fair is held to honour the memory of the forty Sikh warriors who laid their lives during the Battle of Muktsar in 1705. Muktsar was originally called as Khidrana. It was named as Muktsar, following the battle.

Every year on the occasion of Maghi Mela, parties hold their political conferences. However, this year Indian National Congress (INC) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has refrained themselves from holding their political conferences.
