Jammu and Kashmir: Two militants killed in Shopian encounter

Two militants were killed during an encounter with the security forces in Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, the police stated. The incident took place on Monday when the security forces initiated a search operation in the Reban area of the South Kashmir district. The security forces had received specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, a police official stated. As per the report, the operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire, to which the security forces retaliated. Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir, was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "Today morning, 2 militants were killed in an encounter in Shopian. Their bodies have been recovered and the identification process is underway."

Two killed in an explosion at Army ammunition depot

Two laborers were killed and two others were injured in an explosion at an ammunition depot of the Indian Army in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The explosion was reported from the Khundru area in the South Kashmir. The deceased were identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Pahloo and Gulzar Ahmad Khan, resident of Uttersoo Maidphall areas. Meanwhile, the injured laborers have been identified as Fida Hussain and Shabir Ahmad. -PTC News
