Sikh community holds protest, demands justice for 1984 victims in Jammu

Sikh community holds a protest, demands justice for 1984 victims in Jammu Various Sikh organizations took out a protest march on Thursday in Jammu to demand justice for the Sikhs killed in the 1984 anti- Sikh riots. The march, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Sangat, started from Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The protestors carrying banners and placards passed through various bazaars of the city. They raised slogans in support of their demands. Their march ended at the Press club. They raised slogans against the previous Cong-NC and the PDP-BJP governments. Also ReaD: Ban on constructions within 100m of Chandigarh International airport Sikh activists sought the intervention of the United Nations to pressurize the Central government to deliver justice to the victims and survivors of the 1984 riots. The protesters urged the United Nations for an International Inquiry into the incidents. They wanted the UN to pressurize the Central government for justice. They also demanded a SIT to be constituted to probe the incidents of 1984 and 1989 anti-Sikh riots.
