Sikkim: Three Army jawans killed, 3 critically injured as truck falls into gorge
In a major road accident, three Army jawans were killed while three other soldiers were critically injured after a truck, they were traveling in, fell into a gorge in East Sikkim on Wednesday.
The road accident took place at 6th Mile on New Jawahar Lal Nehru Road in Sikkim which connects Gangtok with Tsomgo Lake and Nathula near the India-China border.

According to the information, six Army jawans of the Kumaon Regiment were traveling towards Gangtok.

The driver lost control over the truck and, likewise, it plunged 600 feet into a gorge.
The driver and two other soldiers died on the spot, the police said.
Meanwhile, the rescue operation was conducted by the Army, BRO, police, and locals in the inhospitable terrain. The three survivors were taken to an Army hospital in Gangtok.
However, they were shifted to a medical establishment in West Bengal's Siliguri, the officer added.
