Smog: 37 vehicles piled-up on the National Highway-1 due to low visibility

37 vehicles piled-up on the National Highway-1 near the Samalkha area of the district due to smog today. While 14 people received minor injuries, no casualty has been reported in any accident. According to the police, a loaded truck was taking a U-turn near Jhattipur village in the Samalkha area around 8 am when a mini-bus carrying a marriage party on way to Chandigarh collided with it. A total of 17 vehicles were involved in the pile-up. 14 vehicles were involved in a pile-up in another incident near the Lapro factory. Three persons received injuries in the accident and were admitted to nearby hospitals. While in the third incident, six vehicles collided with each other near Karhans village. The pile-ups took place in the morning due to poor visibility. The vehicles involved in the accidents were removed immediately to regulate traffic, said Inspector Naveen Sindhu, Samalkha SHO. -PTC News
