Srinagar Hospital attack: 5 arrested for facilitating escape of Pakistani militant

Five persons have been arrested by the police who allegedly facilitated the escape of Pakistani militant Naveed Jutt, alias Abu Hanzalla, from custody during a visit to Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital on Tuesday, officials said on Thursday.  Naveed Jat is a resident of Boriwal Sahiwal in Pakistan. Indoctrinated at the age of 17 into the Lashkar-e-Toiba, he was sent to India from Pakistan to unleash terror. Srinagar Hospital attack 5 arrested for planning escape of Pakistani militant

After conducting conducted overnight raids at several places in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, five persons were arrested.


Hanzala managed to escape after at least two other militants attacked the police escort team at SMHS Hospital here, killing two cops.

An alert was sounded immediately and a massive operation was launched to track down the Pakistani militant and his accomplices.

SSP Srinagar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray visited the hospital after the attack, stating that while Hanzala fled the spot, the other six militants have been detained.

The police have launched a manhunt to track Hanzala down. -PTC News
