Sukhbir Badal demands withdrawal of false cases against SAD leaders, workers
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded withdrawal of false cases registered against SAD leaders who were attacked and shot at by Congressmen in the presence of the local police. Mr Badal said the SAD would take its fight for justice to the logical end. "We will even move the honorable high court and demand that the police officials including the local DSP as well as IG M S Chhinna be treated as co-conspirators in the attack on Akali leaders". The SAD president said it was unfortunate that the Congress government did not have the courage to face the municipal elections despite being elected to office only eight months back. "The DSP told them to come on the very route on which they were attacked in the presence of the local SHO. Despite only eight persons and three vehicles being involved in the attack, an FIR at the instance of the Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira alleged that 90 people including 12 leaders were present on the spot. This was done deliberately to thwart all prospective candidates from contesting the local elections", he added. -PTC News
