Sukhbir Badal urged CM Haryana to intervene in Khalsa Suicide Case

Shiromani Akali Dal president Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today strongly urged the Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar to intervene personally and urgently to ensure exemplary punishment to the officials or others found guilty of forcing the Sikh rights activist Sardar Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa into tragedy leading to his death Mr Badal drew the CM's attention to the observation of the Sikh activist's son Jujhar SIngh in which he had alleged that careless police action drove his father to death. Mr Badal demanded strict action against policemen who dealt with the situation in a shockingly irresponsible and casual manner. Although some cops had been booked in the matter, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the action against them must remain transparent and members of the family, as well as the community, must see justice being done. " Mr Badal told the Haryana CM that there have been widespread and credible reports that the action and attitude of some members of the Haryana police was directly responsible for Mr Khalsa's tragic death. "Under ordinary circumstances, no Sikh, least of all a religiously minded person, would ever take such a step. Therefore, it is all the more important that the entire sequence of events leading to the tragedy be thoroughly probed and that the probe be monitored at the highest level," said Mr Badal. Mr Badal drew the CM attention to the statement of Khalsa's son in which the latter had said that his father kept on warning the policemen to stay away as he was holding a peaceful dharna and that the deceased had even asked them to hold a discussion on Wednesday morning. But the policemen remained adamant and his harassment by the cops led to the tragedy
