Sukhbir Singh Badal was elected unanimously as the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) at delegates session in Amritsar on Saturday. The delegates session was held after the bhog ceremony of Sri Akhand Path hold to commemorate the 99th Foundation Day of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
This is the third consecutive time that Sukhbir Singh Badal has been elected unanimously to head the country’s oldest resgional political party. Since, there was no other name proposed for the post of the President, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, who was assigned the role of returning officer, announced the unanimous election of Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Jathedar Tota Singh proposed the named of Sukhbir Singh Badal while Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra, seconded the name. Jagmeet Singh Brar endorsed the proposals.
