Sultan of Johor Hockey: India back on winning ways with 5-1 win over Australia

India was back on its winning ways with a convincing 5-1 win over Australia in the Sultan of Johor Hockey Tournament on Wednesday. The win, third in four games for India, keeps its hopes alive for a place in the final. India had gone down fighting to Japan 3-4 yesterday after winning its first two games against the hosts Malaysia and New Zealand.

For Australia, it was second defeat in four games as it has a win and a draw in other games. It was Shilanand Lakra who gave India lead with two brilliant goals in the  26th and 29th minutes before Gursahibjit Singh and Mandeep Mor chipped in with penalty corner conversions in the  48th and 50th minute.
In between Dilpreet Singh scored a brilliant field goal in the 44th minute. Three minutes before the final whistle Aaron Knight scored from a penalty corner to reduce the margin for Australia. India plays Great Britain in its last round-robin game in this six-nation tournament.
