Sultan of Johor Hockey:India routs New Zealand 8-2 for second successive win
India continued its winning spree trouncing New Zealand in its second match of the Sultan Of Johor Hockey Tournament on Sunday. India had beaten the hosts Malaysia 4-2 in its first game.With the second successive win India moved to the top of the table with a maximum of six points and a big goal difference.
Earlier Great Britain also recorded its second successive win defeating Japan 2-1. Yesterday Great Britain had defeated New Zealand 2-0.
India’s big win against New Zealand was highlighted by a fact that seven of its players figured on the scoring sheet. Except for Sanjay, who scored a brace, others who contributed to India’s big win were Dilpreet Singh, skipper Mandeep More, Pratap Lakra, Shilanand Lakra, Suman Beck and Sudeep Chirmako. India also had the satisfaction of scoring three of its eight goals through penalty corners and all by different players. India now plays Japan in its next game of the six-nation tournament.
