Sultry weather prevails in Punjab, Haryana Sultry weather conditions prevailed across Punjab & Haryana today. Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal, a meteorological department report said. In Punjab, Patiala registered a maximum of 34.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal. Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded maximum temperatures of 32.1 and 34.7 degrees Celsius respectively. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 35.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the normal, while the maximum in Bhiwani settled at 34.6 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius. Narnaul recorded a high of 36.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal. Rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated to scattered places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days, the weather department said. PTI  -
