Asian Games 2018: Tajinderpal Singh from Moga Wins Gold Medal In Men's Shot Put

Asian Games 2018: Tajinderpal Singh from Moga Wins Gold Medal In Men's Shot Put Twentyfour-year-old Tejinderpal Singh Toor heaved India to a shot put gold on the opening day of athletic events of the 18th Asian games on Saturday.

India got off to a good start  both in track and field events.But the day belonged to the Punjab thrower who plays for Indian Navy. With his first throw of 19.96 m, Tejinderpal had assured himself of the gold as none of his rivals could even 19.55 mark
The silver in the event went to Liu Yang of China with a throw of 19.52 metres.
Tejinderpal had four throws of 19.96 or above. His fifth attempt saw him heaving the brass ball to a record distance of 20.75 m thus setting a new Games record. His sixth and final throw was 20m.
So complete was his domination that at no stage  any other athlete could come anywhere near him.
Shreeshankar qualified for finals in long jump with a leap of  7.83 m.
Other Indian athletes to do well was Duttee Chand who qualified for 100 m sprint by clocking 11.38 seconds in the Heats.
Mohammad Anas Yahya and Arokiya Rajiv qualified for 400 m semi finals.
In Hammer throw for women, India's Sarita Romit Singh finished fifth with the best throw of 62.03 m.
