Taranjit Singh Sandhu presents his credentials to Donald Trump

Taranjit Singh Sandhu, recently appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the United States of America, on Thursday presented his credentials to President Donald Trump in his Oval office of the White House. During the Oval Office credentials ceremony, Donald Trump warmly welcomed Taranjit Singh Sandhu and wished him success in his responsibilities as India’s ambassador to the US. The Indian Embassy said in a statement that the President recalled his bond with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several interactions with him. Meanwhile, Taranjit Singh Sandhu conveyed warm greeting from the President Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Donald Trump and the First Lady, the statement said. Taranjit Sandhu also added that the vision and guiddance by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President Donald Trump in the last three years had moved India and United States towards strategic convergence. Also, Sandhu pronounced his commitment to work towards strengthening the strategic partnership between India and United States, in mutual friendship, democratic values and people-to-people ties. While sharing the information, Taranjit Singh Sandhu took to twitter and wrote: "Honoured to present my credentials as Ambassador of #India to the USA to President Donald J. Trump at Oval Office in the White House this morning." Meanwhile, the acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Alice G Wells, took to twitter and wrote: "Extending my warmest welcome to @SandhuTaranjitS, India’s new Ambassador to the US. A strong champion of #USIndia ties, Amb. Sandhu’s proven record & deep experience augurs well for the future of our partnership. Welcome back to Washington! Taranjit Singh Sandhu was the Deputy Chief of Mission from July 2013 to January 2017. Born on January 23, 1963, Sandhu studied at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and did his graduation from St Stephens’ College, Delhi, with History Honours. Later, he pursued a Master’s degree in International Relations at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is married to Reenat Sandhu, who is Ambassador of India to Italy. -PTC News
