Tarn Taran vandalism result of open license given to Congress workers to strike out: SAD president
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the vandalism of a market as well as sexual molestation of girls going to pay obeisance at a gurdwara at Tarn Taran was a direct result of the open license given to Congress goons to strike out against their opponents at will and demanded a judicial inquiry into the entire incident. Stating that there could not be a bigger example of the jungle raj which had seeped into Punjab during Congress rule, the SAD president said the goons were allowed to ransack 67 shops over a period of 40 minutes at Adda Bazaar in Tarn Taran three days back. “Shop keepers kept calling the police station which is forty meters away but the concerned ASI refused to come to their aid. Even the SSP did not take any calls”. He demanded that this be done immediately as it was clear that the Tarn Taran police was shielding the culprits as only one person had been arrested in the case even as 15 others continued to evade arrest. Mr Badal said a judicial inquiry would be able to unravel the politico – police nexus due to which this heinous incident had taken place in the first place and why no concrete action was being taken against the accused till now. He said the scope of the inquiry should be enlarged to include all victims of atrocities by Congress goons. He said the inquiry could investigate the death of international karate player Kuldeep Kaur of Fatehgarh Churian who committed suicide after her plea for help to Rural Development and Panchayat minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa after she and her family were attacked and injured fell to deaf ears. “Earlier a Jaito family sold off their mill and property and migrated abroad after the police failed to arrest any of the gangsters who had killed their bread winner Ravinder Kochar when he refused to pay extortion money. This never happened even in the days of terrorism”. The SAD president said the law and order situation was such that unheard of crimes were happening every day. “Only yesterday a businessman from Patti – Ajit Jain was shot dead outside a bank where he had gone to deposit money”. Asking the SAD rank and file to gear up to fight for the right of people to live without fear, Mr Badal said the SAD would lead protests against all cases of atrocities and force the government to take corrective action. -PTC News
