The 37-year-old man, who killed his own nephew, and buried him, was arrested by Delhi Police from Hyderabad on Thursday. The accused identified as Bijay Kumar Maharana, from Odisha moved to Delhi in 2012 after his girlfriend shifted to the NCR region.

Three years also, Bijay Kumar’s nephew Jai Prakash also moved to New Delhi and started working in an IT firm. They started living together in a flat in Delhi Dwarka area. With time, Jai Prakash became close to Bijay’s girlfriend, which he didn’t like. Because of this, Bijay planned to kill his nephew.

On February 2016, when Jai Prakash was asleep, Bijay smashed his head with a hard metal. He then dragged his body to his balcony and buried him. He planted saplings to avoid suspicion. After a week, Bijay filed a missing complaint with the police. In 2017, Bijay shifted to Hyderabad.

In October 2017, Jai Prakash’s skelton wrapped in blue jacket and shirt was found when the building was renovated. Police also found a bed sheet, a blanket and a mattress. During investigation, police found out that Bijay was living at that time.

Police located him with the help of technical surveillance and arrested him on Thursday.
