Temperature Hovers Above Normal Across Punjab & Haryana

Chandigarh: The minimum and maximum temperature across Punjab and Haryana hovered a few notches above normal today, even as fog reduced visibility at some places in the region. According to the MeT department here, fog reduced the visibility early this morning at some places including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Faridkot in Punjab and at Hisar and Narnaul in Haryana. Chandigarh, where maximum temperature yesterday settled four notches above normal at 25.1 degrees Celsius, recorded a minimum of 9.8 degrees Celsius, which was five notches against normal, the MeT department said. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 10.2 degrees Celsius, up four degrees while Hisar’s low settled at 9.7 degrees Celsius, three notches more than the normal limits. Karnal recorded a minimum of 7.4 degrees Celsius, up by a degrees against normal while Narnaul’s low settled at 8.5 degrees Celsius, four notches more than normal level. Amritsar in Punjab recorded a minimum temperature of 7.9 degrees Celsius, which was five notches above normal. Patiala recorded a low of 9 degrees Celsius, two notches more than normal level while Ludhiana registered a minimum temperature of 7.9 degrees Celsius, up two notches against normal. The maximum temperature at many places in the two states have been hovering a few notches above normal during the past few days settling in the range of 23-25 degrees Celsius, it said. He said that a western disturbance was approaching the region and rainfall was likely to occur at some places in Punjab and Haryana by Friday. -By PTI
