Tensions between Malaysia, Singapore flare after boat collision
Tensions between the two neighbouring countries, Malaysia, Singapore flare up after Malaysian government vessel, which collided with a ship in waters on Saturday.
According to Singapore foreign ministry statement , the collision between MV Pireas and Malaysian government vessel Polaris took place in Singapore territorial waters.
Malaysian authorities impounded the bulk carrier, the Pireas, and detained its crew after the collision Saturday.
The neighbors have had testy relations after Malaysia evicted the island from the Malaysian Federation in 1965.
