Verma, alleged to have played a significant role in managing payments for the international drug syndicate dismantled by the NCB last year, is also the brother-in-law and key associate of Akshay Chhabra, the mastermind behind the drug syndicate, who was arrested earlier.
The total number of arrests related to the heroin seizure case has now reached 18, as per the NCB. Providing details of the recent operation, an NCB official stated that 79,000 euros, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking activities, were confiscated. Additionally, 2.5 kg of gold bullion was recovered during the operation.
"The collaboration between NCB, Chandigarh, and the CI and STF of the Punjab Police has been instrumental in combating drug trafficking. The arrests of all the main accused of the international network along with the recovery of drug money and gold bullion are significant milestones in the ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes," the official emphasized.
Further investigations are underway to delve deeper into the intricate network involved in the illicit drug trade, the official concluded.
