Tral encounter update: Three terrorists killed, weapons and ammunition recovered
Pursuing credible leads regarding the presence of terrorists in Tral area of District Pulwama, Army, CRPF and Police today afternoon jointly launched searches in the Hyena area of Tral. As the searches were going on, terrorists fired on the joint search patrol of security forces, which was subsequently retaliated by the security forces leading to an encounter. In the encounter, all the three terrorists were successfully neutralized by the security forces. One of the terrorists has been identified as Qasim (FT). The terrorists were affiliated with the proscribed organization JeM and it is learnt that Qasim was a top commander of proscribed JeM terror outfit and involved in a series of terror attacks on the civilians and the security establishments in recent times. Moreover weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from the site of encounter. Besides five security forces’ personnel also sustained injuries in the encounter and have been hospitalised and all are stable. Police has registered a case in this matter and further investigation is going on. -PTC News
