In a major incident, two CRPF personnel were killed while three were injured as militants resorted to attacking a group of security personnel in the Pampore area of the Pulwama district on Monday, the police said.
The security personnel were a part of a road opening party (ROP), which is deployed for the safe movement of vehicles.

The incident took place at around 12.50 pm when the militants opened fire near the Kandizel Bridge, located near the national highway in the Pampore area.
According to a CRPF spokesperson in Srinagar, the ROP was attacked on Monday afternoon and 5 CRPF personnel were injured with multiple gunshot wounds.

Likewise, the injured security men were rushed to the Army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar, where two of the CRPF personnel succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, the three others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
A CRPF officer said that “Unfortunately, we lost two jawans in the militant attack today.” Adding, he said that the condition of the remaining three is stable as of now.
A massive cordon-and-search operation was launched in the area soon after the militant attack. However, the attackers have not been apprehended so far.-
