Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, the US epidemiologist Anthony Fauci suggested a lockdown for a few weeks in India to contain the spread of COVID-19 as its deadly second wave shows no signs of reduction in daily cases. In a recent interview, Fauci said that the most important thing was to get supplies of oxygen, medication, PPE kits.

He further asserted the formula — immediate, intermediate, and long range (measures to contain the virus). He said that the most important thing in the immediate was to get oxygen, supplies, medication, PPE. The immediate thing to do was to essentially call a shutdown of the country, he said.
