US Open 2019: Sumit Nagal becomes first Indian to win a set against Roger Federer

US Open 2019: Indian Tennis Player Sumit Nagal became the first Indian to win a set against the Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer. During the first round of US Open 2019, Nagal achieved the feat, when he defeated Federer in the first set. However, Sumit ended up losing the match by 6-4, 1-6, 2-6, 4-6 against Roger Federer. Prior to Sumit Nagal, Peter Wessels (Netherlands), Jose Acasuso (Argentina) and Frances Tiafoe (America) are the other three tennis player who has won the first set against the Swiss tennis monarch. The first set of Sumit Nagal vs Roger Federer at US Open 2019, was so crucial that at one stage, the set was tied at 4-4. Afterward, Nagal put himself into the game and won the first set 6-4. Later, in the second set, Federer stood wise and rushed out all guns blazing, which resulted in the defeat of Nagal in the second set by 6-1. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old Federer was in no mood to calm down and wrapped the third set 6-2. However, the 22-year-old Nagal managed himself to show some grit in the fourth set, as the score was leveled at 2-2, but Federer came out with the aggressive style of tennis and ended up the match-winning fourth set 6-4. Sumit idolises Rafael Nadal. I hope Sumit does well in future & continues to bring glory to the nation". Sumit Nagal is currently ranked at the 190th position in the ATP rankings.
