US School students celebrate 549th birthday of first Sikh Guru
US school children celebrated 549th birthday of first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on November 23 in Barley Lane, Chadwell Heath school in the US. More than 250 school students participated in the celebrations.
Keeping his philosophy and teachings in mind, the school decided to celebrate the Gurpurab. Students were told many stories. School’s co-founder Mankamal Singh personally told many stories. Also Read: Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Prakash Utsav: Nanakana Sahib decorated with flowers (see pictures)
One of the stories children were told was of the Guru’s visits to two different villages – the first treating him with hostility as an outsider and second welcoming him with respect and hospitality. Also Read: 30 killed as bus falls into canal in Karnataka
He further said that Guru ji wanted to spread goodness throughout the world. Keeping this in mind, they celebrated Prakash Purab in their school. -PTC NEWS
