Muslims did no favour by staying in India: Yogi Adityanath

In a significant remark that triggered a huge controversy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Muslims had done no favour to India by choosing to stay here after the partition in 1947. He said during an interview with a news channel BBC that the Muslims should have opposed the partition that was planned by the Britishers and led to the creation of Pakistan. While referring to the protests at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, Yogi Adityanath stated that the men had decided to stay inside their homes and let the women and children sit on dharna to stage protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. He advocated the right to peaceful protest. Yogi said that what was happening in Shaheen Bagh was not good. It was troubling commuters and residents in the area, he said. Muslim women and children have been staging a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) at Shaheen Bagh near Kalindi Kunj in Delhi since December 15. The protestors have refused to vacate the main Delhi-Noida link road till the time CAA gets withdrawn by the Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The protests have led to the massive traffic jams on the other key roads that link Delhi-Noida. Earlier, Yogi Adityanath termed the protest at Shaheen Bagh as malicious attempt to disturb the peace and normal life in Delhi, where elections will be held on Saturday. https://www.ptcnews.tv/pm-narendra-modi-called-rahul-gandhi-tubelight-lok-sabha-speech-en/ UP CM had also said that the protestors at Shaheen Bagh were those who support militants in Jammu and Kashmir and chants the sogans of Azaadi. "Shaheen Bagh protest is a pretext. They had to protest against the scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. We can understand their problems. Their problem is a ban imposed on Triple Talaq," he said. -PTC News
