Tri-Services Veterans Day was commemorated on 14 January 2020 under the aegis of ‘Western Command’ with the aim to alleviate the challenges faced by our Veterans and their dependants. The event witnessed an attendance of 300 Veterans, Veer Naries and their Next of Kins. To raise awareness, the event was widely publicised by means of SMS, pamphlets, News paper advertisement and personal interactions.
On commencement of the event, details of all veterans were registered at the “Veterans Sahayata Kendra”. Representatives of VSRC and ECHS were at hand to assist the Veterans in resolving their pension issues and other grievances.
The gathering witnessed the solemn presence of Lieutenant General GS Sangha, Chief of Staff, HQ Western Command who personally interacted with the Veterans and enquired about their Welfare.
The majestic event commenced with the Veterans paying their homage at the Veer Smriti. The event was organised with the singular focus to address Veterans grievances and to raise Veterans awareness regarding benefits entitled to them. The attendees were served with tea and refreshment post conduct of the event. The Veterans appeared elated and applauded the efforts put in by HQ Western Command and its formations in conducting the event befittingly.
