Virat Kohli appeals to fans to help contain coronavirus

While all the sporting action is getting suspended amid the coronavirus outbreak across the globe, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is concerned over the pandemic disease. Virat Kohli took to Twitter to give an important message to his fans amid the coronavirus pandemic. Virat Kohli wrote: "Let's stay strong and fight the COVID 19 outbreak by taking all precautionary measures. Stay safe, be vigilant and most importantly remember, prevention is better than cure. Please take care, everyone." https://twitter.com/imVkohli/status/1238674756636774400?s=20 Virat Kohli and the members of the Indian cricket team were scheduled to take on South Africa in the remaining two ODIs, however, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) decided to suspend the series over coronavirus threat. The coronavirus has not only affected the bilateral series between India and South Africa, but also the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 which has been postponed till mid-April. Coronavirus declared a national disaster in India

The Home Ministry on Saturday declared the coronavirus (COVID 19) as a national disaster. The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that: "The government has decided to treat COVID 19 as a notified disaster for the purpose of providing assistance under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)." Likewise, the Home Ministry announced that Rs 4 lakh will be given as an ex-gratia to the family of the person who will lose their life due to pandemic, including those who are involved in relief operations or associated in response activities.

Coronavirus in India

India has reported 84 confirmed cases with two deaths so far. The first death was witnessed on Thursday where a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka, died due to the disease. Likewise, a 68-year-old woman who was tested positive passed away on Friday. -PTC News
