With a spell of snowfall tourists from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh rush to the queen of hills – Shimla. This poses many different challenges to the Shimla administration in terms of traffic jams, accidents, choking of hotel accommodation, medical issues and power failure among other issues.

Acting on the Shimla DC's request, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, Pardeep Kumar Agrawal shared the advisory in public interest exhorting tourists from the district to comply with the directions issued by the administration to avoid any problem during their stay in Shimla. 

  Here are some of the tips you must consider before packing your bags for the Queen of Hills –
  1. Book your hotels, guest house well in advance.
  2. Plan your trip on the second or third after the snowfall, as it lasts atleast 4 days and places near by like - Kufri, Narkanda stay covered in the white blanket.
  3. Driving on snow is dangerous and many times leads to fatal accidents.  It has generally been seen that such accidents  happen due to inexperience and lack of skill with the drivers.  To avoid such situations, tourists should come with experienced drivers and drive only during daylight hours and avoid driving alone.
Image result for snowfall shimla4. Always carry bottled water, milk, beverages to avoid dehydration. However needless to say, bring your blankets along 5. Avoid aged people, minors and infants as its trouble coping with the harsh conditions. 6. While driving, keep your car windows slightly opened for ventilation if at all the car gets stuck or jammed in snow, you always have enough air to breathe. 7. In case of any emergency, they can call at District Emergency Operation Centre, Shimla on its telephone Numbers 0177-2800880-83 which would be operative round the clock.  -
