A Vistara airlines Kolkata bound flight was delayed by three hours on Friday after a passenger on board insisted to smoke on the plane. The UK-707 flight from Amritsar to Kolkata was scheduled to have a halt in Delhi, where the incident was reported before the take-off.

The passenger asked for a permission from the flight attended to smoke. The passenger told that the flight was long. But the flight attended denied the request, following which the passenger engaged in an argument. The flight attendant complained to the pilot regarding the passenger. The pilot issued a warning letter to the passenger and was later offloaded at the Delhi airport.

The airline’s spokesperson issued a statement about the incident saying that the airline regretted the delay. He also said that “We confirm that a customer of UK707 Amritsar to Kolkata via Delhi. After pushback from Delhi which was the intermediate stop en-route to Kolkata, we had an unruly customer situation who insisted on smoking on board. Vistara regrets the delay, however, safety and security of customers are Vistara's foremost priority and it does not accept unruly behavior of any kind.”
