WCLA to help restore Sikh sites in Jhelum Gurdwara Bhai Karam Singh, Gurdwara Choa Sahib and Janam Asthan Mata Sahib Kaur in Jehlum region in Pakistan have remained in silence since they were abandoned during the Partition- a tragic event of India and Pakistan. In the mayhem during the partition, it took a toll on the heritage that was once shared by both the countries. The heritage was overlooked by the governments of India and Pakistan until a few years ago when the restoration movement started. The Director-General of WCLA, Kamran Lashari, has recently inspected the sites. The Jhelum Deputy Commissioner (DC), Saif Anwar Jappa, briefed the WCLA authorities about the background of these gurdwaras. Kamran Lashari also told the media that the agency would try to restore them to their original form with the help of photographs, building designs and maps.
