Chandigarh Coronavirus: As weekend lockdown returns in Chandigarh, the normal life in the city has come to a grinding halt on Saturday. The city on Friday recorded 481 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, the highest single-day spike as of now. Chandigarh has imposed the weekend lockdown to restrict the gathering of people and to break the chain of coronavirus. The lockdown came into force from 10 pm on Friday and it will remain in force till 5 am on Monday. Likewise, the administration clarified that all private offices would remain closed during the lockdown. However, the industries dealing with essential products like masks, sanitizers, and medicines would be allowed to open. The restaurants, hotels, food joints in various malls would be open only for home delivery up to 9.30 pm while the restaurants and home delivery staff would be allowed to move on the identity card.
