With 46,791 new cases, India's COVID-19 tally rises to 75,97,064
Coronavirus Update: India on Tuesday reported 46,791 new COVID-19 cases and 587 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 75,97,064 out of which 7,48,538 are active cases (dip by 23,517 since Monday).
Coronavirus cases in India include 67,33,329 patients who have been cured and discharged (rise by 69,721 since Monday). The death toll due to COVID-19 has increased to 1,15,197, rise by 587 since Monday.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to October 19 is 9,61,16,771 while the samples tested on October 19 are 10,32,795.

The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that the trend of daily cases in 5 most affected states - Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu - reveals stages of the decline of active cases.
"It mirrors a steady decrease in active cases in India with caseload being sustained below 8 lakhs for 3 days in a row," it added while giving a coronavirus update.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that "I expressed my delight at the entire country collectively rising up to the challenge of COVID-19 right from the time of 'Janta curfew' in March till now."
"Our medical fraternity and the scientific community deserve special accolades for their hard work and selfless service," he added.
