Women Sets Husband on Fire for Not Having Fair Complexion
Uttar Pradesh: A brutal case of color discrimination comes up from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, where a woman allegedly put his husband on fire for being dark complexioned, resulting in the death of the victim. According to the reports, the incident took place on June 24 when the accused Prem Shri set the victim Satyaveer Singh on fire while he was sleeping.
Victim’s brother Harveer Singh said that his sister-in-law didn’t like his brother because of his dark complexion and stated “she always commented on my brother’s dark complexion but we never thought that she would step down to commit such heinous crime and would murder him for this reason”
Also, the couple has been married for over two years and a five-month-old girl child. The police then started further investigation. Inspector Sehdev Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Kurh Fatehgarh, said that initially, an FIR has been registered under the Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code but later it was converted to section 302 (murder) after the death of Satyaveer Singh.

The accused herself also suffered severe burn injuries on her legs.
