Ace Indian boxer Mary Kom reached the semi-finals (51kg) of the Women’s World Boxing Championships on Thursday. The six-time World Champion defeated Rio Olympic bronze medalist Ingrit Valencia of Colombia 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the 51kg division at Ulan Ude, Russia.

As Mary Kom stormed into the semi-finals of the ongoing World Women’s Boxing Championships, she assured herself an eighth World Championships medal.
Meanwhile, the Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “5 Indians being in the quarter-final is itself a record but Mary Kom is assured of a medal again. She has already won 6 world championship title and is already in the semi-final again.” “She is already a legend. I’ll call her and wish her for next matches,” Rijiju added.
