Indian Embassy in Israel issues safety advisory as Iran launches missile attacks amid rising tensions
PTC Web Desk: Amid intensifying tensions in the Middle East, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued a safety advisory for Indian nationals, urging them to remain vigilant and follow local safety protocols. This warning came in response to Iran launching over 180 missiles at Israel, following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli missile strike. Iran’s state media confirmed the attack, while Israeli defense forces reported that its citizens had taken shelter in bunkers.
The nearly year-long conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has escalated, with Israel targeting Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant organisation that supports Hamas. The killing of Nasrallah last week further fueled tensions, with Iran vowing retaliation. In response, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv advised all Indian nationals to exercise extreme caution, avoid non-essential travel within the country, and stay close to designated safety shelters.
The Embassy also shared emergency contact numbers for Indian citizens in case of any crisis: 972-547520711 and 972-543278392. Additionally, an email ID, cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in, was provided for assistance. Indian nationals who have not yet registered with the Embassy were urged to do so immediately, with the registration form shared in the advisory.
"The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining regular contact with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals," the advisory stated. It reassured the Indian community in Israel that every effort is being made to ensure their safety during this period of heightened conflict.
