World Teachers Day 2019: Theme, Importance and History

World Teachers Day 2019: The day is observed on October 5 every year with an aim to improve the teacher’s situation in the world. In 1996, the UNESCO and the International Labor Organisation decided at a meeting to mark the day as the International Teachers Day. The day is not only a special day for teachers but for students as well. The teachers and the retired teachers are honored for their special contribution to society in an order to educate the students. Theme: The theme of this year is Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession. The objective is to suggest government to make teaching a profession as a choice for young people. UNESCO has invited school principles, teacher unions, parent-teacher associations, education officials, school managements and the trainers to share their wisdom with the students. Importance: It is an occasion to celebrate the profession of teaching, to promote the values, challenges, roles and duties of a teacher in our daily life. UNESCO took the initiative to look at the future of the teaching profession and the role of young teachers in it. Likewise, UNESCO monitors the condition of teachers and their standards, all over the world.
