YAD calls for emergency assembly session to demand death penalty for 1984 genocide perpetrators. The Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today called for a special emergency session of the Vidhan Sabha to pass a resolution demanding death penalty for all senior Congress leaders accused of indulging in mass murder of Sikhs in 1984, even as it decided to come out with a white paper on the failure of the Congress government to implement any of the promises made to the youth of Punjab. A meeting of the newly constituted YAD body which was presided over by General Secretary (Incharge Youth) Bikram Singh Majithia passed a resolution demanding immediate convening of a special session of the Vidhan Sabha to demand death penalty for senior Congressmen including Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler besides immediate prosecution of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath. The YAD also passed a resolution demanding immediate registration of a criminal case against the Gandhi family for giving political patronage to those who had butchered thousands of Sikhs in 1984 besides helping them suppress evidence. The resolution said the case should also look into the role of the Gandhi family in engineering the mass murder of Sikhs. It said since the Union government had already formed a SIT to reopen all cases closed by the previous Congress government and was investigating cases pertaining to the mass murders; it should also be entrusted with the responsibility of questioning the Gandhi family. “Mrs Sonia Gandhi should be questioned to find out how Rajiv Gandhi had instigated Congress leaders to attack Sikhs besides the family’s role in planning the mass attacks which were overseen by Rajiv Gandhi personally by driving across the worst affected areas along with Jagdish Tytler”, the resolution read. The YAD also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for forming the SIT which reopened old cases closed by the Congress which had already resulted in two convictions. It also thanked the Delhi high court for the landmark judgment holding Sajjan Kumar guilty and sentencing him to life imprisonment. It also announced that it would hold a special felicitation and honour all the witnesses in the 1984 genocide cases who had withstood tremendous pressure to give evidence and nail the guilty. The YAD also announced that it would come out with a white paper to expose the Congress party for failing to implement any of the promises made to the youth. It said the Congress had promised employment in every family through the ‘ghar ghar naukari’ yojna but had not come up with any new job in the last nearly two years. It said similarly youth were promised an unemployment allowance of Rs 2,000 per month which remained on paper. It said smart phones promised to youth were not even being talked about by the Congress government.
