The Yamuna Crosses Danger Mark; Delhi Chief Secy Calls Emergency Meeting Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash called an emergency meeting on Tuesday as the Yamuna River rose above the danger mark, which is 204.83 meters. Recently, water was released from Haryana's Hathnikund barrage which resulted in the rise of water level in Yamuna River. The meeting was attended by army, police and National Disaster Relief Force. They decided that assessment will be done by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDMs) following which the report will be submitted to the Delhi Chief Secy. SDMs are also instructed to keep a close eye on the situation. Anshu Prakash also ordered to station boats with divers in the low lying areas nearby. All the departments were asked to follow instructions on ‘Delhi Flood 2018’ and also requested them to assign their representatives in the Control Rooms. Looking at the existing situation, the central control systems would now be working round the clock and officials would be working in three different shifts. Due to continuous heavy rains in north India, there has been a flood like situation in the Punjab, Himachal and Delhi. Many precious lives have been lost in Himachal and Punjab in the past days and a major portion of paddy crops have also been destroyed by rains. -PTC-
