Twitter has announced to label Tweets that may contain misleading information about the Covid-19 vaccination drive in India.
It has also introduced a strike system against such misleading tweets. Thus, five or more strikes will result in permanent suspension of the Twitter account.
“We believe the strike system will help to educate the public on our policies and further reduce the spread of potentially harmful and misleading information on Twitter, particularly for repeated moderate and high-severity violations of our rules,” Twitter stated in its blog post.
Meanwhile, Twitter stated it has removed around 8,400 Tweets and challenged 11.5 million accounts across the world since the Covid-19 guidelines were announced.
One strike takes to no account-level action, 2 strikes will lead to a 12-hour account lock while three strikes in another 12-hour account lock; 4 strikes in a 7-day account lock, and 5 or more strikes to permanent suspension of the account.
