Youth Gets 10-Year Jail For Minor's Rape; Fine Of Rs 1.08 Lakh Imposed Chandigarh: A local court sentenced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to a 25-year-old man in a case of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl. A fine of Rs 1.08 lakh was also imposed on the convict, Pappu Kumar Thakur, a resident of Burail village. Out of 1.08 lakh, Rs 1 lakh will be given to the victim as a compensation. The Police booked Pappu under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) and 366 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. Also Read: Dad Booked For Raping 13-Year-Old daughter In Patiala On August 21, 2017, mother of a 15-year-old girl approached police stating that her daughter is missing since August 16. She tried her best to find their daughter but was unsuccessful. She then approached the police. She told the police that she suspected kidnapping of her daughter. The police registered an FIR under section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC, following which the investigations were started in the case. The girl returned on September 11 and later she and her mother approached the police. The victim told the police that she was kidnapped by Pappu and was taken to Mohali, where she was raped. Later, on August 22, she was dropped back to Burail. The police arrested Pappu, the very next day and booked him under Sections 366 and 376 (2) of the IPC and Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act and presented the accused in the court where justice was rendered to the victim. -PTC NEWS
