Delhi Police arrests one more person in R-Day violence case

Farmers continue to protest on the borders of Delhi against the three central agricultural laws and the protest has entered its 71st day. Protesting farmers on Republic Day 2021 hoisted a flag at the Red Fort in Delhi after a tractor march. The Delhi police has now lathi charged on the farmers and tear gas was also used. The farmers’ tractor rally in Delhi started in the morning and whereas a lot of farmers were protesting peacefully, a lot of them entered the Red Fort and tried to hoist the Kisan flag. Internet suspended at Delhi's Singhu, Ghazipur, Tikri borders till January 31 amid farmers protest The Delhi Police had arrested 124 people so far and 44 FIRs have been registered in regard to the violence Red Fort during the farmers’ tractor parade on Republic Day and have now arrested another person.

The arrested person, Dharmendra Singh Harman was seen in a video footage at Red fort on January 26 when the violence broke out. The police are also ascertaining his role in the hoisting of a religious flag at the Red fort. The police is also scanning the data to know how many people were active at the time of the Red fort violence. Farmers ProtestMeanwhile, the Delhi Police has also registered four cases against different social media accounts and sent requests for the removal of offensive and unlawful posts regarding the farmers’ protest. Farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders. Despite 11 rounds of meeting between the protesting farmers and the Centre, no conclusion has come out so far. No date has been fixed for the next meeting. The farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. -PTC News
