Dengue cases in Punjab on 'alarming rise'
In the wake of the rising number of dengue cases in Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday asked Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to direct the health department to 'start fogging immediately'.
Taking to Twitter, Sukhbir Singh Badal wrote: "With 3,760 positive patients, Dengue cases in Punjab are on an alarming rise! Yet no adequate preventive measures have been initiated by Pb govt. As always Cong leaders are ignoring this grave situation. CM Charanjit Singh Channi must direct the health dept to start fogging immediately."

The dengue cases continue to rise in the Tricity. Mohali reported two suspected deaths due to the viral infection, taking the death toll this year to eight.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh and Panchkula have not reported any death due to the disease so far.
Mohali is hit the worst by the disease. Among 210 latest cases, 176 were reported from Mohali, followed by 20 in Chandigarh and 14 in Panchkula.
The cases of dengue started spiraling in September after monsoon rains were revived. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease.
Mohali has so far reported a total of 824 confirmed dengue cases this year, crossing last year’s figure of 471 cases.
Chandigarh has reported a total of 143 cases while Panchkula has recorded 133 cases this year.
