29 Taliban militants killed in an encounter with security forces in Afghanistan

A total of 29 Taliban militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants on Friday evening in Afghanistan. The encounter broke out in Shirzad district in Nangarhar province.

According to media reports, the Taliban attempted an attack near the district governor's office. Security forces retaliated effectively. The Taliban planted two car bombs followed by a gunfight with the security forces. Two Afghan security personnel were also killed in the ensuing gun battle.

On April 9, three United States military personnel were killed while three others were injured in Afghanistan Suicide bombing. One contractor was also killed when an explosive-laden vehicle targeted a convoy of US forces. The explosion took place near Bagram airbase, a major air hub for the US forces in Eastern Afghanistan.
