Amid the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination, WHO's European director warned that the coronavirus pandemic won't be over until at least 70 percent of people would be vaccinated while the vaccine rollout in Europe was still "too slow".
The World Health Organization's regional director for Europe Hans Kluge said that "The pandemic will be over once we reach 70 percent minimum coverage in COVID-19 vaccination."

Hans also said that one of the main worries was the new variants of the coronavirus.
"For example, the B.1617 (Indian variant) is more transmissible than the B.117 (British variant), which already was more transmissible than the previous strain," he said.

According to an expert, the speed was "of the essence" in the pandemic. "Even when WHO declared a pandemic, several countries were still waiting and we lost valuable time."
While the regional director lauded calls for solidarity, he stressed that a speedy rollout of COVID-19 vaccines was of the utmost importance.
Kluge added that "Our best friend is speed and the time is working against us while the vaccination roll-out still goes too slow." "We need to accelerate and to enlarge the number of vaccines," he added.
